Vevo and MTV Partner Up Again
December 11th, 2011 . by adminVevo has often been called the digital ages MTV. A little over a year ago Vevo pulled all of its content off of MTV’s sites because of a licensing dispute. Vevo is the music video home for Universal Music Group, Sony Music Entertainment, and EMI Music, 3 of the top record labels. Now Vevo and MTV has come to some kind of an agreement through negotiations, yet representatives on both sides have no comments on the terms.
MTV is iconic when it comes to airing music videos debuting on cable TV in the early 80′s. But the company veered away from music videos, and companies like YouTube, which hosts Vevo’s content on its site, airs music videos which are some of the most popular and watched clips online. MTV has certainly grown far beyond music videos. Reality TV shows like “Jersey Shore”, “Teen mom” among others have proven that MTV is so much more but the negotiation with Vevo is a worthwhile partnership to pursue.
